Ice Cream Man

Here is a new series of work that I am calling, “Ice Cream Man”. The shoot was split into two parts. Two of my sons were photographed in the studio over the summer while their farmer tans were in full effect. Due to a hectic schedule, the summer passed us by and I had to wait to shoot the icecream truck when the opporotunity presented istself. We just went to Miami to shoot for something else and I piggybacked this shoot the followin day. I used my assistant Tommy Evans to play the role of ice cream man. I encouraged him to be as annoying as possible while we were shooting. He kept repeating , “Hey kids! Want some Icecream?” It was kind of creepy, yet awesome.

Before and After

This is an image that I originally shot for Under Armour a few years back. It is of Tom Zbikowsk, safety for the Baltimore Ravens. The image never got used and was stored away on of of our set drives. I had some down time and decided to play around. I took the image of Tom shot in the studio and combined it with a background plate I shot in Massachusetts of an abandoned factory. The fire was a combination of CG and photography. Here are the before and after shots.

“Escape”

I Just finished up working with Connelly and Partners on a viral spot for Samsonite. The piece follows a spy who breaks into a building to steal valuable information. His mission is cut short when his cover is blown. Our hero runs, jumps, and fights his way through a maze of hallways and rooftops to escape the security force closing in. Kris Meyer and Gregory Smith put together an amazing crew that pulled off what should have been a three day shoot in just one day. Patrick Ruth and I both used two Arri Alexas for the majority of the film and we had two DSLRs to cover BTS and extra shots. We utilized Boston’s finest for production and post production.Yuhei Ogawa edited the 15,30,90 second spots which look amazing. Zero, an award winning visual effects lab did all of the visual effects, Finish mastered the color and visual support, and soundtrack group provided the mix. See some BTS shots below.

New Balance Baseball

Last week we traveled to Arizona to shoot 4 A list players for Arnold Communications and New Balance. I had my LA crew drive out OTMFC’s big black, which not only carries all of our equipment but also has an onboard generator capable of lighting the biggest of sets. We used 10 Profoto Pro 8 Packs and 12 heads from OTMFC spread out over 2 sets. We shot on location at an undisclosed field. Our task was to sync out the sun using a combination of high shutter, and a tight iris. I would normally use the Canon 1D Mark IV to capture action in multiple frame bursts but due to the size that the images would be displayed we went with the Hassleblad H4 D60. Below is an outtake of Dustin Pedroia (Boston RedSox) from our shoot.
